View full detailsEvery chamber below reaches 1.5 ATA, the ceiling for a soft, portable chamber. This is the tier for anyone who wants the most pressure a home-friendly chamber can offer without the size, weight, and cost jump to a hard shell unit.
Once you go past 1.5 ATA, you're out of soft chamber territory entirely and into hard shell units built from stainless steel. That makes this tier the practical ceiling for anyone who specifically wants a chamber they can set up, break down, and store at home. If maximum portable pressure is the goal, this is the group to compare within, rather than looking at lower-tier soft chambers or jumping straight to hard shell.
Most chambers at this tier reach 1.5 ATA as the top of an adjustable range, letting you start lower and work up as you acclimate. At least one model runs at a fixed 1.5 ATA specifically, with no adjustment, built for someone who already knows they want maximum portable pressure from the first session. An adjustable model gives more flexibility. A fixed model is simpler and skips the settings entirely.
Roughly half of what's here uses a lying position, and the rest are built for sitting upright or reclined. Reaching 1.5 ATA doesn't require one position over the other, so this comes down to the same comfort and space considerations as choosing between any lying and sitting soft chamber, just at the highest pressure tier available in that format.
The questions people usually have before choosing a 1.5 ATA chamber.
Yes. Soft, portable chambers top out at 1.5 ATA. Anything higher requires a hard shell chamber, which trades portability for a rigid steel construction and a much larger footprint.
An adjustable model lets you build up to 1.5 ATA gradually, which suits anyone newer to hyperbaric use. A fixed model skips the adjustment entirely and suits someone who already wants maximum portable pressure every session.
Only if you specifically need pressure beyond 1.5 ATA. If 1.5 ATA meets your goals, a soft chamber at this tier gets you there without the added size, weight, and cost of a hard shell unit.
