View full detailsEvery chamber below increases air pressure around the body in a sealed environment. What actually separates one from another is shell construction, pressure ceiling, body position, and capacity.
Soft chambers use a flexible, multi-layer material with a zippered entry, keeping them light enough to set up and store at home. Hard shell chambers use stainless steel and polycarbonate construction, which allows meaningfully higher pressure but comes with far more size, weight, and cost. Soft chambers cover the large majority of home wellness use. Hard shell is the step up when you specifically need pressure a soft chamber can't reach.
ATA measures the air pressure inside the chamber against normal pressure at sea level. Soft chambers across both brands generally top out between 1.3 and 1.5 ATA. Hard shell chambers push further, up to 2.0 ATA in the highest models. A higher number isn't automatically the right choice for everyone, it's about matching the chamber to what you're specifically trying to achieve, and pressure tier is one of the biggest drivers of price across this entire category.
Most chambers use a traditional lying position. A meaningful number of models across both brands offer a seated position instead, which suits anyone who finds an extended flat session uncomfortable or wants to read or work during a session. A few models are built specifically for wheelchair access, with a wide entry and stable base.
Most chambers here fit one person. Several soft and hard shell models step up to two-person capacity for couples or a parent and child, and the largest hard shell units go further, up to five people in one chamber. Multi-person capacity adds real cost, so it's worth confirming you'll actually use the extra space before paying for it.
The questions people usually have before choosing a chamber.
A soft chamber is lighter, easier to store, and covers most home use. A hard shell chamber makes sense specifically if you need pressure beyond what a soft chamber can reach, and you're prepared for the added size, weight, and cost.
It depends on your goals, but most home users are well served by the 1.3 to 1.5 ATA range that soft chambers cover. Higher pressure hard shell models exist for those with a specific reason to need more, and the price difference reflects that jump in capability.
Yes, several models across both brands are built for a seated position, and some adjust between sitting, reclining, and lying flat. If a flat position for an extended session isn't comfortable for you, prioritize a seated or adjustable model.
Only if you plan to actually share sessions with a partner, child, or family member regularly. Multi-person chambers cost meaningfully more than single-person models, so it's worth being honest about how often you'd use the extra capacity.
