View full detailsDIR builds equipment for three genuinely different parts of a salon or spa, and each one comes with its own real decision points rather than one shared set of criteria.
Barber chairs are built specifically for haircuts and shaves, running on a hydraulic base for height and swivel adjustment. Shampoo stations handle the hair-washing side separately, often with a reclining backwash function built in. Treatment tables move into spa and med-spa territory entirely, built for facials, massage, and general body treatments rather than hair services. These aren't variations on one product, they're three different pieces of equipment serving three different parts of a business.
Within each category, the real choices differ. Barber chairs split mainly by styling era, vintage and retro versus modern, plus whether the chair reclines for services beyond a standard cut. Shampoo stations vary by backwash design and reclining depth. Treatment tables come down to lift mechanism, electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic, and how many independently adjustable sections the table offers.
The questions people usually have before choosing DIR equipment.
It depends on the services you're outfitting a space for. A barbershop focused purely on cuts and shaves may only need chairs. A full-service salon typically needs both chairs and shampoo stations. A spa or med-spa is closer to needing treatment tables than either of the other two.
A shampoo station is built specifically for washing hair, usually with a reclining backwash basin. A treatment table is built for facials, massage, and general spa services where a client lies flat, and doesn't include a basin or hair-washing function at all.
